Family and succession

Organising life as a couple, protecting the spouse, passing on to the children — the estate as well as the business. We deal with these questions together, over time.

What we do

  • Couples: marriage contracts, changes of matrimonial property regime, matrimonial advantages, civil partnerships (PACS), gifts between spouses, liquidation of the regime on divorce.
  • Gifts: simple gifts and inter vivos partitions (donations-partages), including across generations; split of bare ownership and usufruct.
  • Estates: administration of estates, inheritance tax returns, partitions, cross-border situations.
  • Transfer of the family business: gifts of shares, Dutreil undertakings, family holding companies, transfers within the family.
  • Protection: wills, lasting powers of attorney (mandats de protection future), posthumous mandates.

Our method

  1. A first meeting to understand the family, the estate and, where relevant, the business; with the accountant and the lawyer where there are any.
  2. A written plan, with the tax cost worked out, that reconciles protection of the spouse with transfer to the children.
  3. The deeds, in the order the plan requires. The real estate and finance practices step in where the transfer involves premises or is accompanied by financing.
